      A lower package .... how?

      Hi,

Try as I might I can not find the answer to my question on Sky website.

How do I give 30 days notice that I want to remove one of the channel packages that I have ?
It is easy to ADD packages but I cant see how to remove them.

      Help appreciated.

      Thanks

      Steve

You can only cancel anything with Sky by phoning them. That gives them the opportunity to talk you out of it.

You can try giving notice by email or letter, but you may just get a reply quoting a number for you to phone.

Yep, dog and bone only. Seems to be pot-luck whether they try to persuade you out of it or now. I cancelled HD pack and 5 packs last month with no awkward questions asked whatsoever. He was an off-shore guy, dunno if that is significant, maybe they all are nowdays (whatever happened to the nice Scottish lassies?).

That was on a Tuesday morning if it's any help, and a SSW breeze.....

Later got a email from Sky saying "where did we go wrong?"

      Thanks for the answers.
I had hoped I could do it via email but it seems they want me to ring a rip off number so they can make even more money out of me.

The reason I want to downgrade is that I have heard the channel packs are being combined into just 2 soon so I may as well drop down to basic and see if the additional ones I want are included in the new package (if that makes sense).

Ring from work? You don't need to be next to your sky box to downgrade.

Not true! I have downgraded many times using their e-mail service (that is the one from MySky under the "Contact Us" tab). That IS is the only email they will accept to make any changes as it requires you to be logged in to use it.

There is even an appropriate subject line in the pull-down list of supplied reasons to contact them!

I tried that for HD sub removal 2 months ago - and picked the subject etc as you said ...and reply there was none...

Essentially email ain't guaranteed a reply, but by all means try....

SKY seem to discourage it, bit ambigious as they talk about not being able to cancel, although title says "downgrade or cancel"-:

      How to Cancel or downgrade
If you wish to leave Sky, you will need to provide 31 days notice, please check your Terms and Conditions or speak to one of our advisors if you're not sure whether your minimum contract period has expired. Please call Sky Customer Services on 08442 410 266 (UK) or 0818 719 819 (Rep. of Ireland) as you are unable to complete this process online.

If you don't want to leave Sky, but you're not happy with your current package, we may be able help you choose channels and services that are right for you and your budget.

!What I have always had is an automated email almost immediately as the message gets logged onto the Sky correspondence tracking system and then a reply from a human some time later.

Well done. Yes, I got the robot response, just not the human one....Just dunno if they've phased that out? (the response, not humans, not yet anyway...).

! at start of sentence - new one to me Brian?

You do have to wait a while (usually around 5 days) but you will get a reply eventually.
