Just bought SKY+HD box-how easy to self install

      Hi

Could anyone offer an idiots guide to installing our new sky HD box. We are current sky+ subscribers and are hoping to install the HD box but dont want to pay any HD subscription. At the moment we are happy to just receive the free HD channels ie ITV and BBC HD.

      Cheers

well, there was a guide by a skypaulus guy but i cant find it anyway:

unscrew you 2 sat cable from your sky+
remove the other cables inc scart
put you hd box in place
link up the power, phone, hdmi cable, rf cables
screw your 2 sat cables into the back of the hd box
put the sky+ card into the hd box
call sky and say you have just changed boxes and need the sky+ features on (08442414141)

      and thats it

Switch the box OFF at the mains before you start playing around with cables at the back.

Yes, Sky can! Moving Home | Self- install

Ignore the first page advising that an engineer should do it. The other pages take you through the process step by step. There should also be a self-install guide with the box.

The hardest part is getting your existing card paired, as the online method doesn't work every time - but a call to Sky CS will sort it out.

Just found the Self-Install for sky HD. I've had a look at the Moving Home link but i just want to double check that i have this right.

I have Sky+ already so when i get delivered my Sky HD box it will simply be unplugging the old box and plugging in the new one?
