      Box crashes at about 18:45

      Odd one this!

My ( I assume v2 ) Sky HD box has started a curous behavior. Over the past month to 6 weeks it has crashed several times. Not unusual in itself unfortunately.

However there have been 3 times it has crashed around 18:45 while watching the Newcastle based Look North programme, and on Friday as I watched a recorded progamme it crashed at the same time!

The screen goes off ( the TV warns there is no signal but the lights are still on the facia of the HD box. The red light comes on when i press the remote but no picture!

In the end I just switch off and on at the plug and then it works OK.

Anyone else experienced this? Is the time just a coincidence?

      Cheers,

      Henry

The time is probably just a coincidence, as your digibox ( of unknown make/model ) obviously has a problem somewhere.

OK guys I know what I am supposed to do. I have been posting in forums for 15 years.

I was away from from home and did not have access to the box, but I was curious to find out if others were suffering the same issues so I sent a quick post!

      Model 902020
      O/S 1.32B12
      EPG 8.3.2

BTW it happened again last night at about 18:37 - again as I watched Look North!

      Cheers,

      Henry

Re: Box crashes at about 18:45

Might be the usual Thomson PSU capacitors problem. Not much else goes wrong with them. See:

Thomson Sky+ Box - red standby and no HDD activity.

Symptoms are different, but it all boils down to the same fault. Your options are repair or replace.
