Sky HD without multiroom?
Hey
I'm on the Sky website looking to upgrade to Sky HD. I currently just have the standard old Sky box. I dont know if I'm going blind and cant see it, but I cant find an option to upgrade to Sky HD without taking the multiroom as well I'm fine with paying the extra £10 a month for HD, but I dont want to pay another £10 for multiroom as well as I'm perfectly fine watching TV downstairs Am I missing something or is it not possible?

Re: Sky HD without multiroom?
Not sure, when I went over to HD it was installed as a multiroom option. The only way to find out is to give them a call.

Have you looked at this page
Sky Boxes - Sky Digital TV Boxes & Equipment - Buy Online
Alternatively, log into your MySky account and look for an 'Upgrade your box' option.

Re: Sky HD without multiroom?
Thanks guys, I ended up having to phone them up which has led to another question I need to ask, not sure if it needs a new thread or not but I'll ask here for now
They came out to install today, I'm at work so my girlfriend stayed home to deal with it. Before we had the standard Sky through a communal dish I believe, its a newly built semi-detached house and for some reason the dish was put on our next door neighbours house for us to share, dont know why we didnt get one each. Anyway the guy installing it has came out and given us our own dish on the back wall of the house but he says we only have one feed so we wont be able to use the Sky+ feature. I thought having our own dish would mean we would have the two feeds needed for Sky+? Or is there more to it?

Re: Sky HD without multiroom?
If you have your own dish there is no reason why you should not have the full Sky+ features, even on two or more boxes if you wanted it. If he has only connected one cable, get them back to fix it properly.

Re: Sky HD without multiroom?
It shouldn't matter if you do or don't have your own dish the installer should have ran in the 2nd cable either way, even if it required him fitting an octo LNB, there is no excuse for not doing this.
A phone call to Sky should sort out this cowboy.

Re: Sky HD without multiroom?
Cheers for the advice
Just got home, definitely got our own dish. There is one cable from the dish which has been put through a hole hes made in the front wall of the house to the living room where the TV is. To get Sky+ properly all I would need is another cable from the dish is that right? Would that mean another hole in the wall? Not really liking the way the cable has been thrown over the roof of the house, everyone else in the street has it neatly placed along the side of their house wall to the front Our Sky dish is on the back of the house, cable thrown over the top to the front, is this normal?

Re: Sky HD without multiroom?
Get them back. You should not have to do anything. I am thinking the installer either a) did not have enough wire with him or b) he did not have the correct LNB. Putting another wire in will involve drilling another hole or enlarging the first one.
Throwing the wire over the roof it quite common with some installers. It is sloppy and eventually will lead to the cable being frayed on the ridge and having to be replaced. Get on to Sky and tell them you are not pleased, the installer is being paid for a job he has not done properly.

Re: Sky HD without multiroom?
Cheers
Should be getting it sorted today, hopefully its not the same guy again though. I can understand the cable being thrown over the roof, but saying I cant get Sky+ has baffled me!
