I've never experienced the Amstrad 250/250 and therefore can only compare my Pace (and shhh! Thomson) against the 1Tb I had fitted last weekend. The box is lovely to look at and a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The picture matches up for me and scrolling through the menu's it's fast and even faster through the EPG listings. The planner, I know is what everyone wants to know about - well 91% left and 50 programmes recorded and so far no lag scrolling through the planner or accessing stacks; so in answer to the above statement, I reckon it must have a faster processor and memory but can anyone confirm this for us please?

now on my second 1tb box and this one is faulty as well tried new dish new lnb and new cable !!!!! picture keeps breaking up.engineer is baffled

After having my 1TB Box installed on February 2nd, my Box became faulty over a fortnight ago and then had it replaced like you a week later. The second box seems to be working ok.

What issues have you been having?

I got mine today and have just paired it up and seeing what it's like.

The speed on the EPG is noticeably different.

last box hard drive very load and all have had picture and sound break up. had everything replaced and my other hd boxes in the bedrooms are ok.!! old hd box was also ok. new 1tb box just been installed. will report how i get on with this one.

Just to report:

I have the Amstrad DRX780UK-C. Had this box installed just before Christmas and almost since day the hardrive was clicking above the level i would call normal - so much so that it completely took the enjoyment of HD away.

Decided not to contact Sky for a 2nd hand replacement and instead invested in a 1tb hardrive (WD 10EADS - caviar green).

Followed the instructions for replacement and the process was very simple. I deleted most of my saved content to reduce the copying time and from start to finish the process took about 2 hours at a steady pace.

So far not so good - this drive appears to be very unstable. I have had numerous blue screen crashes, failed recordings and i am generally afraid to multi task with the box in fear of it freezing up and crashing.

Consequently i have ordered a Samsung F2 which i hear has been more successful. Dont think that the Amstard and the WD EADS like each other.
