also a tip is to reglary clean out you hd box, every 3-4 months would do, because they accumulate some muck. same with the sky+ boxes, ve just cleaned my pvr 3, and it was uttterly brown, after 1.5 years, and less than 1 year of recording

there was a small red button in the old amstard digiboxes model drx100 too .
that didnt do anything . when i pressed it to get my software back
rip it was good box for 1 week and half

Manual reset button, just read prodave's post and it also does something else. I managed to get a SKY engineer to answer this question in January. Apparently it will also restore a bad/corrupt EPG download. Or so he says, have not had one yet.........

my amstrad DRX 890 appears to have a fault. After going through the restart procedures I get the digibox back on ok, but the only thing I receive is the Sky Guide programme. No matter which remote button I press I cannot get access to any channels, the Sky Guide just stays on screen and I cannot get out of it.

Any help would be appreciated

Try removing the batteries for 10 mins, then re insert. Failing that, can you control your TV with the remote (volume, channel change etc?)
