Vonage VOIP and Sky+ HD install...

Hi everyone...

I’m getting Sky+ HD installed tomorrow PM, but I’m a bit concerned as I only have a vongage ‘VOIP’ phone line – not a standard ‘fixed’ land line. I’ve googled about this a fair bit but i cannot find any concrete answers on it.

I currently have multiroom with Sky+ - my multiroom box dials out fine using Vonage, and I’ve not received any letters from sky asking me to connect my box(s) – so I assume the call-back is working fine.

The question is – has anyone had any success with the Sky HD boxes and call-backs over VOIP? What actually happens if the engineer cannot do a call-back because of a non-standard line? Will he just drop the install and lose me £90 odd quid?

Hope someone can reply soon...and put my mind at rest.

If your Sky+ box works then so will the HD.

You don't need the phone line connected for the install.

I'm not so sure about that. Multi-room installations require both boxes to phone Sky from the phone number registered with Sky when the equipment was ordered (they use caller ID). Skyplususer may have been lucky up till now. The box may pass the dial-up test, but I wouldn't rule out letters from Sky at a later date.
