Sky HD order and 2 extra rooms?

Hi,

I currently have sky+ in the living room and hope to upgrade to skyHD today.

Phoned Sky and explained I wanted HD in the living room with the existing sky+ box moved to family room (multiroom) ---- no problem.

I then asked if there was an additional installation fee to get a 3rd normal sky box in my bedroom, since I still have my original sky box stored in a cupboard.

The lady said it would be free install, but I needed to buy a 3rd receiver costing £49 and the engineer wouldn't install the box I already have lying around doing nothing.

Surely they could just run the cable to the bedroom for me as they are on the roof anyway???

Any ideas how I can avoid the £49 to buy a sky box when I already have a spare one?

It wont just be a Sky receiver you need, you will also need an octo LNB to cover the 5 outputs you will use.

As daft as it seems, the £49 isn't a bad price for the LNB and receiver and you will always have a spare.

I would normally say run in the cable yourself but as you will need the Octo LNB it's as cheap to get them to do it.

I had a similar issue, I bought HD and wanted to put the HD box in my front room, then relocate my existing Sky+ box into my sons room. Because I was taking an extra multiroom I got my installation for free, however my daughter had a standard digibox in her room which I wanted to convert to Sky+ (I had an old V1 box in the loft for this). The Sky engineer installed an octo LNB, and recabled my daughters box for Sky+, cabled my sons room and put in a phone line, all in my free installation. I didn't have to purchase any other box other than my HD STB and was never asked to.

I arranged all this over the phone with a very nice Sky CS rep and she confirmed I wouldn't be charged for installation. Can't say fairer than that!
