Sky hd resolution output
hi all
just had HD installed. v pleased with it. one question. my 37" samsung lcd is 720p. in the sky picture settings menu should i alter the HD output setting from 1080i to 720p? will it make picture better / worse or no difference. have tried both settings but am now not sure i can tell any difference!!

The only way you would notice the difference is if your TV was noticably better or worse at down scaling the 1080 resolution signal to 720 than your STB. If you can't tell the difference then leave it alone!

Generally people seem to agree that TV manufacturers are utilising better scaling engines than Sky put in their HD box. On my Samsung with a 720p screen I set the Sky box to output at 1080i and let the TV do the rest - otherwise the Sky box is converting to 720p and it's possible your TV will have to rescale that to fit your screen, so set the Sky box to 1080i.

i had the same thing and for a year i burnt my own head out with settings and resolutions and calibrations......etc.i cant count the amount of time ive spent on forums copying settings and searching.my missus got sick of me messing with the tv.lol.
at the end of the day its subjective,so have a play and the one you like best,IS THE BEST....
