Sky+ HD firmware Rollout
I'm not sure if this happened to me because I'm a staff member. Or if it happened because I'm special. Or even if Sky just love me as an employee, but I woke up this afternoon to find my EPG and Operating System on my HD Box somewhat different.
Its been rumoured for a while that it would roll out by end of October, but last I heard it was going to be mid November when it did.
Anyhoo, just thought I'd let folks know that this is definetly on the way. Actually surprised no-one mentioned it already. Maybe Sky do love me
Operating system version: 1.32B09
EPG Software version: sky+7.20c
Just in case you were wondering, thats the new version numbers
On a personal note, I prefer the old system. This one takes a couple more button pushes to get around most of it. Can take a bit of getting used to.

Re: Sky+ HD firmware Rollout
Possibly not a "spy" much longer
Aren't you concerned that as one of the first to get the update, your post will make it rather easy for Sky to identify you?

Re: Sky+ HD firmware Rollout
Just been told, that all staff on the trial got an email yesterday, saying that they were getting the latest beta firmware on their HD box. Which is what I assume you have received.
It's not the final version, and probably, will not be released, at least, until next year.

Re: Sky+ HD firmware Rollout
i think we all need this now.
The current EPG apart from being 10 odd years old is killing LCD panels up and down the country. God forbid you should accidentally leave the room with the program guide up because it doesnt drop back to the last channel for a good 20mins.
Mrs S1n has a terrible habit of pausing stuff while she makes phone calls etc and the little pause icon on the bottom left of the screen is as clear as day even when its not paused.
We upgraded to a 42" 1080p last week and I am scared wittless at the thought of seeing those awful artifacts on the new panel.
heres hoping we get it this month

Re: Sky+ HD firmware Rollout
Don't know what your new telly is, but here's a useful item on screen burn for plasmas.

Re: Sky+ HD firmware Rollout
The idea that by showing a bright white screen to "pre-burn" your plasma seems insane to me.
What you are actually doing is reducing the brightness of the picture by running it in, thus loosing the benifit of a new screen.
Buy an LCD, they do not suffer "burn" if this is a problem you are cencerned about.
