      Free sat on HD box

      Hi
Can anyone tell me; I'm actually asking on behalf of a friend, if it is possible to receive all the free channels on an HD Sky box

He has just canceled Sky subscription, including HD subs, because of cost

He did not ask for these 'free' channels to continue through his Sky box or will he need to ask for his card to be changed so he can receive them?
      Thanks

I believe, the card would revert to enable the free channels only, without any intervention.

Yes, the card will still decode "Freesat" programmes (the Fives, Sky3, Setanta Sports News). A card is not required for the Free To Air programmes (including BBC-HD).

However, unless he insisted on paying 10 a month for the recording/playback facility, this will be gone.
