Excellent customer support, speed and service!

When I first signed up there were a few hiccups, but let's not go into that. If you're making a choice, I'd try to avoid all the hate around Sky Broadband. Base it on your circumstances, are you close to the exchange, are you capable of getting good speeds. Well I seemed to of ticked all those boxes and I'm sure I'm not the only one who lives near an exchange!

I do a lot of gaming and Sky has made me feel spoilt when playing, most of the time I host games due to my fast speeds (synced at about 19meg and the games are full of 3/4 bars and no one complaining about lag) and I can do other things whilst gaming. HD videos on YouTube load in seconds which is also a massive treat.

If Sky can reach you, they'll give you amazing service. Their customer support are friendly and won't hesitate to share a joke or two with you. I'd recommend them any day! It's more or less preference, not racism but I do prefer speaking to someone from this country and even though Sky do have call centres in other countries you do tend to get put through to a friendly Brit.

All in all, I'm well chuffed. I've come from AOL, capped at about 3meg speeds to Sky where I'm getting 20meg. A very, VERY happy customer.

I don't think there is a hate against Sky Broadband, if you are on an LLU variant. The only real issues are the BT white label version called Connect.

LLU compared to AOL is like comparing water and wine. It's nice to see a positive experience and praise for CST as they do get a lot of stick.

Re: Excellent customer support, speed and service!

I'd never fault the customer support, I've logged a lot of calls to them and each time they are very sharp and got my issue sorted. I can understand the Connect situation however, seems to affect people who are in remote areas and it's very brutal with throttling but there isn't much that can be done until they start providing LLU in those areas I guess.

Re: Excellent customer support, speed and service!

Im happy now after I had been very unhappy for the last few days. Had the typical problem with Outlook 2003 connections etc. In final act of desperation got through to Support with the intention of cancelling and going back to old ISP. Nice irish woman sorted me out in 10mins! She did some synchronisation with Google mail which she said was a recent training exercise last week (why her other coleagues were not aware of this technique is a mystery - this also sorted out the Network password reminder problem.
Im simply relieved after a nightmare couple of days - Outlook is vital to my email work process

Re: Excellent customer support, speed and service!

the fact she thinks that was something that was brought out for sky technical employees a week ago really shows the variation in quality you get with sky, that tool has been available much longer than a week and there are still agents in tech support who dont know what it is or how to use it(or dont have access to it)

having said that emails aren't a big priority for sky, particularly the likes of outlook which sky have very limited support for

What was actually done, as to help others in future. Chances are it's something either already known here or something very simple that wasn't done in the first place...

From the sounds of things she either had you do the unlock captcha OR had you enable POP via your account online...

Re: Excellent customer support, speed and service!

sky have a tool called something like google mail sync and all you need to do is type the username and it resync's the username and password if outlook/windows mail keeps asking for it(seems to be similar or basically the same thing as unlock captcha except its more prone to work)

its been available since end of november for tier 1 i believe

Had another pleasant surprise today, Sky Player on Xbox 360 is free! Usually it's £9/am
