Well....it's all gone rather well!
Little trouble getting F2S to get me a MAC code but as soon as I got that I placed the order with Sky.
Within a few days my router arrived! Faster than the letter with my username and password which arrived the day after.
And on exactly the date Sky's letter told me I'd be activated...I was!!
Delighted! Four times faster than my old F2S connection (it was IPStream 1MB, line length too long (about 10km) and attenuation too high for anything else). So really really pleased....I may tweak at some point. And stable too by the way!
OK email doesn't seem too want to know on either pop (can't connect) or on the portal (won't sign in) but I'll give that 24 hours before I try again.
