Its a shame you only have an average line, have you checked your internal wiring? A good line might support 19+meg on a good day with the wind in the right direction

You're totally right, I currently don't have a master socket, which is why Sky said that my wiring is ideal for broadband...the phone cable that comes into the house was splits into 2 connections with a splitter box, so that I now have a socket for the kitchen and the sitting room, this was all done over 30 years ago

I should really get a master socket installed anyone know a cheap way of getting it all done or a company that would do it for cheap, BT told me it'll cost £180

Easy to do yourself, just fit it where the junction box is should only take 10 minutes and cost around £20-30 if you get a filtered faceplate and also an IDC tool.
