Another + for Sky

I had been with BT for about 3-years, yet the frequency of their marketing calls (and costs, and unclear contracts) were getting irritating. I'm one of the these people who would have just continued paying, as for the most part it's been fine.

So, I phoned up BT to get my MAC code, ...after the latest marketing call while eating my tea. "Why are you cancelling?" "If I'm honest then it's because of your constant marketing calls." And then the girl goes on to offer me xyz special rate....................... BT overall have repeatedly simply rubbed me up the wrong way, simple as.

Our yearly bill; vision, voice, data, was about £1,000 all in. With Sky I've now cut that down to about £500. That's with Broadband Max, Talk Unlimited, and the basic TV mix.

Live date for Broadband was set for today, and it went live about an hour ago. Various status 'texts' were received to my home phone during the meantime, and router sent by courier etc. etc.

So all in all a thumbs up for Sky. Obviously if I wasn't live right now then I'd be swearing, but the overall delivery and experience has been good. BT in contrast don't tell you ANYTHING.

I've been with BSB/Sky on and off since the days of the D2MAC squarial, and it's good to hear that they still employ Scottish staff.

Hi I have been with Sky Tv a lot of years and the variety is excellent their Sky Talk and line also good but their connect BB good through the day but between 5pm till 12midnight connect Customers get throttled but overall Sky has to be admired for their surge in technology. As you say about Bt I still get letters from them saying am I having problems the biggest problem has been Bt at Bt line checker before moving to sky was 3.5mbs when moved to Sky it went down to 1.5mbs to cut a long story short I said to Sky to run a speed check and have a look at the results Bt thought they were so clever but Bt speed checker stated 3.5mbs in the end Sky sorted the problem. and yes the Scottish staff excellent good listeners. really pleased everything started so well and I agree A+ for Sky against Bt

Re: Another + for Sky

BT are just taking the proverbial now!!!!!!!!!!

Just had them on the phone (again) offering a credit card exclusive to BT customers. "Erm, I'm no longer a BT Customer, I left because of your constant marketing calls." And then she just carries on with the marketing spiel!!!!!!! "No, I'm not a BT Customer." She then just hung up.

They just do not get it. I'm not even their customer now, and STILL they're phoning me!

This is PRECISELY why I left them.

ratty.

if they ring again tell them you have telephone Preference it works every time that includes every sales call you get on the phone. I used to have it with Bt I don`t know if Sky do a telephone Preference it takes you of all callers lists or supposed too someone else will probably give more information.
Bt are loosing a lot of Customers to Sky and are trying to entice them back but they don`t know how and they must really feel

Re: Another + for Sky

I enjoy winding Bt up as they ring me every 3 months or so trying to offer me their bb. I let them go through all the speil, politely uming and arhing, then when they tell me my line can support 6meg and would I be interested, I tell them I get 16 with Sky (teehee). I've even had them tell me that its not possible as my line will only support 6. At this point I ask them if theyve ever heard of LLU and politely say goodbye. It probably wastes about 10 minutes of both mine and their time, its probably a bit childish but i enjoy it. Mrs holdi says will you ever grow up - to which I retort " I hope not"

Re: Another + for Sky

considering they decided to hit me with a £60 "leaving fee" when I ditched their BB, even though I had been a customer for over 2 years, which they refused to give back to me (although Sky did refund me this), less than 8 months later they were on the phone begging me to take BB up again.

When I asked why did they then burn their bridges then slapping a big hefty fine when I left if they wanted my custom in the future they didn't have an answer.

And again their salespeople don't seem to know what technology is on offer as I get the whole you can't get more than 5 meg/sec even though I got 8 on BT and 11 on LLU.

Re: Another + for Sky

tbh, I'm just looking forward to getting away from them.

You're quite right though about them not knowing anything about the technology (or how to do business for that matter while we're at it).

I'll admit though that I'm never rude to cold callers on the phone, as they're only doing a job. Often I'll make it clear in the first 30-seconds that it's a no, and 9/10 they say thank you and it's all civil. It's the ones that won't take no for an answer......... Thing is, it's often the Indian calls centres that won't let you get a word in edge ways. The British ones are actually more 'normal' in terms of how to deal with people (which would allow me to consider them afterwards...). Saying that though, I've had the Indian guys on the phone before now, and they're trained better than ours in procedures, like with the phonetic alphabet. I use it alot, and UK call centre handlers just aren't trained to use it. The Indian ones often are. So, swings and roundabouts. I've had a personal mail before now from an Indian caller actually saying thank you!!

Can't be nasty to people. Bad karma.

Am also with TPS here. Line is also ex-directory too.
