Hi ...i am almost a newbie to this..but here go's ....i got sky max last july ..not knowing how to test what speed you have untill i found this forum..thx again guys & girls, i found out last friday i was only getting around 5mbps. I contacted sky...and told them basically..i had paid £75 over the asking price and would like it back in the form of a HD box..with free installation.....a brilliant man by the name of dave helped me out..he said he would rob peter to pay paul so to speak..because he was in the wrong department to deal with it..and yes..my names paul ..lol, i looked on my account ..and true to his word..it was there...HAPPY DAYS...not quite..he also promised me free installation...but when i rang back it wasnt on there monitors...so....i now have to find the said man ..b4 i can get my sky hd box....wish me luck!.......p.s....it pays to be nice, and you cant kid a kidder..lol

How I wish I could find someone like that at Sky!
Did you ever find Dave?

Re: Happy customer...almost
To be honest, I doubt if you will get anywhere. I think you have been fobbed off. If you are on Max you are paying for an Up to 16Mb connection. This can be anything between 512kbps+ to 16Mb. The fact that you are not getting 16Mb just puts you among the 95% of users who don't. To get the full whack you have to live fairly close to your exchange. If you do get anything out of it, Sky are going to be swamped with similar requests, so keep us informed.

Re: Happy customer...almost
Its an upto service, so I doubt if anything will happen. If it does though, "Dave" would get a hard slap on the wrist.

Hi ...isitme....i live 575yrds from my exchange....I told them...because i was new to all this ..when i done a few speed tests..i should only be paying for the "8meg sevice"because i was only recieving up to 5 or 6 mg,my screen said up to 7.1..so that was my bullet so to speak...and it worked a treat..be patient and polite..even when they say no..then try again another day.I had one woman....who just wouldnt listen to reason..and said there was no way i was getting anything and she wouldnt put me through to anyone else ...and that was that..so i said..ok fine,i put the phone down ..and within 10 mins it rang..and it was the said ...dave..lol

Re: Happy customer...almost
So to summarise -
You called and complained about not getting 16Mb.
You then asked for a HD box with free installation.
This has been approved and you are getting £30 to boot.
Rod for back and P45 for Dave come to mind.
Everyone on the forum will no doubt be calling Sky and quoting what you got and demanding the same.
