Switched from BT yesterday, now a happy chappy

Hi all, first post here. I've been with BT for several years, paying £25 a month for their up to 8mb package (and was getting speedtest results of 3500 down 450 up). Finally had enough of the throttling/slowdown during peak times and the £5 a month Sky mid seemed too good to be true.

Switchover happened yesterday, bt router went off at 4pm. Was too busy to try Sky immediately but plugged my Sagem router in about 6pm and was online immediately.

Router stats:
Speed Down 8096kbps Up 384 kbps
Line Attenuation Down 30.0db Up 16.15db
Noise Margin Down 11.4db Up 13.0db

Actual speedtest:

My only comment is the upload speeds aren't as fast as BT, but that's possibly because I'm on the mid package? But as the download is twice as fast, who cares!

Excellent - and welcome to the forum

Your connection stats look good (healthy noise margin) so I think you can anticipate a reliable and stable connection.

Yes, if you want a higher upload speed (and download) you'll need to move to Max.

I have to admit it's tempting now I've seen my figures. What's the deal with upgrading from mid to max when you've only just joined mid, seeing as activation fee for mid was £50 and max only £25. Would I get a refund ?

I doubt they would give a refund, after all it was your choice to have Mid. But you could try if you fancy Max you have nothing to lose
