sky is an app so any broadband connection will do as long as at least 2 to 3 mb

Re: Skygo use at friends house ?

Yes, that would be no problem at all.
The whole point of sky go is to use it anywhere in the UK using either wifi or 3g/4g while travelling. No restrictions on the wifi provider.
But, make sure he is does not have a low usage cap, as sky go use will be taking up a fairly big chunk of that. If your friend has an unlimited package, then no worries.
As mentioned above, sky go does need a minimum of 2mb broadband speed.

If using on an iPad or Android device, you can only use the sky go app.
The web method of sky go is only for a PC or Mac.
You will have no problems using the sky go website method on a laptop, as you have just described.

Re: Skygo use at friends house ?

A couple of things to be aware of...

As has been correctly pointed out, you can use Sky Go on any broadband connection within the UK. However this is for UK subscribers. If you go to Ireland then you'll be blocked.

The same is respectively true for subscribers in Ireland (not Northern Ireland as they have the same restrictions as ourselves).

I trust that your friend hasn't set up a VPN service on his router. If he has and it is providing a US IP Address, then you'll be stuffed until he disables it for your laptop.

Depending on whether you have Sky Go or Sky Go Extra you can only register 2 or 4 devices. You are allowed one change within a month. You can therefore test your Laptop now but be aware that if you were at the maximum and have had to remove one item from your account, then you'll have to wait for the strt of the next month to go back.

If you have Sky Go Extra (free if you have a MultiScreen account, else an extra 5 per month) then you can also download the Sky Go Desktop app. This will allow you to download multiple episodes of any series and films, depending upon your subscription.

You also need sky go 'extra' to use sky go on a console.

      Not true.
If you have Sky Go and/or Sky Go extra as either a UK (England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland) sky TV subscribed customer or a Republic of Ireland sky TV subscribed customer, you can use sky go and/or sky go extra across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
It is only when you are in any other countries (outside of the UK and the Republic of Ireland) that it will be blocked.

Sky Go also works fine in all the Channel Islands also.

Ok, whilst travelling through Ireland on the train last year I couldn't use it on my phone or MiFi.
