Recording to PC from sky go

      Hi all

Is this possible and if so how do you do it please?

There is a program on the Arts channel that I watched on Sky Go on a tablet, I want to let me friend see it, can I download to my PC and put it on a disc?

      Any help is always appreciated.

Edit: Sorry I should say the program is being reshown again tomorrow, I have Sky+ it but don't know what to do with it to get it to disc if this is possible.

To record a program to disk you would need a DVD recorder or a suitable capture card on your PC.

      Hi Tom

      Many thanks for your input.

I do have a DVD player not a recorder so I guess thats no use. Would the capture card be an addition to PC or is it the norm to be on laptop?

      Thank you again.

They do not get supplied with most Laptops, perhaps all. I'm sure someone somewhere will say their's came with one though.

Video Capture 'cards' can be bought from places such as eBay and Amazon.

You'll need to get one which connects via a USB port.

This will allow you to play the content via say the Sky STB and record it to your Laptop. However, with the right hardware, you could play something on Laptop #1 and record it on Laptop #2.

Sky have deliberately made this difficult as they don't want people doing it.

One thing to note is that you need an analogue card or a hybrid digital/analogue card. If you don't have an RF2 output on your Sky box you will also need a IO Link. The newest Sky boxes don't have RF2 outputs.

Alternately, something like this should do the job - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Camcorders-R...cp_computers_2 To use it you would need a scart adapter and cable as shown in the 'Frequently bought together' section. I have one of these and only used it to convert my VCR collection, but I can see no reason why it should not work with the Sky box. When copied to your laptop you could then burn it to CD/DVD.
