      Problem solved! I had the wrong password in Thunderbird.

      I must have changed it everywhere else but not in Thunderbird. Putting in the correct password worked.

      I feel like a fool - anyone got one spare?

      Hi,
      I use Outlook 2010 and my email has had intermittent problems for a long time. I got the email from Sky regarding email access, which by the way was useless regarding information about solutions apart from upgrading your applications. So, as suggested by the email I went to the Help Section and found the same advice.

      "Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2013
      Sky emails are no longer supported on this version of the email client.
      You’ll need to update to the latest software version. You might need to speak with Microsoft or Outlook support if this option isn't available."


      Then I checked on here and followed the link to the password 16 digit generator, nothing to lose I thought, so tried that. "Authentication failed"
      I then noticed the 16 digit password is actually 4 blocks of 4 digits with a space between, which would make it a 19 digit password
      Anyway, tried it both ways with and without spaces but neither worked for me, so reverted back and email is working as it has done for god knows how long.

      There is a convenient "copy to clipboard" link on the generator page, I always use that. The generator page/tab has to be open when you use it or it won't work.

      As @Moleman has mentioned, use the copy option. The password you will use doesn't have all those spaces. I believe that they are there to make it easier to write the password without copying it.

      I don't know the situation with this now because despite an email stating this:

      If you decide not to update your email application, you will no longer be able to access your Sky.com email using this method from 13/12/2019

      I am still able to send and receive emails as normal.
