      Hotmail set up

      Hi,
First question so go easy on me...I don't like the way sky email looks i can only see half the screen thanks to the advertisements (stupid especially since you carnt scroll up) Anyway I want to link it to my hotmail so I get all emails there. But it wont seem to set up, keeps getting an error message. I set up my gmail account fine, even though I got an email from Google saying I have been hacked. Is there any way of setting it up, I have tried automatic as well as manual. Im not sure if there is a certain way of doing it, or im missing something somewhere but I have searched on here and don't see anything hotmail related or on the net so thought Id ask...thank you in advance

      Re: Hotmail set up

Why not look at using an email client?

I used to use Outlook Express but it is no longer supported and hasn't been able to access Hotmail for a long time either.

There are a variety of different email clients available and some can be really friendly. Some are free, others come with other packages, such as M$ Office's Outlook.

I now tend to use Windows Live Mail and am able to access all my email accounts (Sky, Hotmail, Yahoo & Gmail). I have also set up my phone to access the Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail accounts as well. I could add the Sky account but have preferred to keep that off the phone as it is mostly for emails which I can handle on my Laptop.

If you don't want to use a client, you could try using the basic version of Sky mail -

      Re: Hotmail set up

I have a friend who doesn't use the Sky email at all. All her emails from Sky are sent to her Hotmail account.

As for not using your Laptop that often, what do you use to check your email? Hotmail is such a popular email site that there are various apps for the iOS and Android Markets. I could also access it on my Nokia 5800 MusicExpress.

      Re: Hotmail set up

I just use the email widget for my HTC phone, so it would be preferable to get them all there rather than having 3 email apps all logging at the same time. It would kill my battery. HTC batterys are awful

Why can't you get the email to work on the phone, are you entering all the details correctly and if so what happens when you try to view your emails ?

      Re: Hotmail set up

Easiest way is to log on to Sky.com, "your account" and change your profile to accept your Hotmail a/c.When all ok delete Sky email address,so that Sky email will default to your Hotmail address.
