      SKY Email and Hotmail

Hi, I recently setup my @sky.com email. I wanted to automatically send my Yahoo and Hotmail emails onto my @sky.com email address.

I followed the simple instructions (Accounts, Add another Mail Account) and entered the Pop 3 information etc for my Yahoo account and it worked a treat and any mails I now receive into my Yahoo account are automatically sent onto my @sky.comn account.

I cannot however get Hotmail to work. The Pop 3 server Sky selects is...

      mail.hotmail.co.uk Port 110

Error I get is "There was a problem connecting to mail.hotmail.co.uk" Show more details tells me that is could not connect to this domain.

I am haver setup my hotmail account and I am using the free version of Hotmail.

Is the Pop3 setting correct and Can I set this up with the Free Hotmail account ? Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks
      A.

Unless you are paying for hotmail there is no pop access to it.

      Re: SKY Email and Hotmail

MS stopped it and made it a paid for feature of Hotmail Plus. I lost POP access when my hard drive went belly up, before that I still had POP access for months after it was closed down. It may just be that your account has not been picked up on or you just haven't had to reformat your drive for a loooong time lol
Add your e-mail account to Microsoft Outlook
If you have a Windows Live Hotmail Plus subscription, you can use a POP3 (POP3, or Post Office Protocol 3, is a protocol that's used to retrieve e-mail from a mail server.) server to add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Microsoft Outlook and access your e-mail messages there. If you download and install Microsoft Office Outlook Connector, you can access your Windows Live Hotmail e-mail messages and contacts in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
Actually forget that, I just found this so it looks like MS decided to go back to POP for all:

Off to download the tool now myself lol

      OK, Thanks for your help.

So If Iam correct then the only way I can access the Hotmail through Pop 3 is to first install Outlook and then set them up from there.

Ok I will try it that way.

      Thanks for your help.

      Re: SKY Email and Hotmail

I think that you are supposed to "upgrade" to windows live mail instead of using outlook express. Outlook will work with the above tool downloaded (the quote saying it no longer works comes directly from the Hotmail help files lol).

      Re: SKY Email and Hotmail

as i said, I'm using Hotmail (as IMAP i thnk) via Outlook 2007 and my gf has it running in Outlook 2003 after installing a plug-in (prob the one Paul posted a bit further up)...

as for whether it works in OE i don't know...

EDIT: hotmail.com address works fine in OE in Windows XP - no plugin required...

I use Windows Live Mail for Hotmail. This is set up to forward all my hotmail to my pop3 account, which happens to be Windows Mail but I'm sure the same would work in OE.
