Re: iPhone

I've got it working. I had the same problem as you and the fix was putting my full email address in rather than just my username.

Let me know how you get on.

Re: iPhone

Hi guys

I have used my iPhone to check my e-mail with both Tiscali and Virgin Media and it worked a treat. I could view, create & reply to e-mails on my iPhone and when I got back to my desktop and opened Microsoft Outlook, it would then download them from the server. Perfect!

However, since switching to Sky, once I have downloaded an e-mail from the iPhone, it won't then download it from Outlook after. This is not matter which setting I have tried using via Sky:

Mail Settings
Forwarding and POP
POP Download:
1) Enable POP for all mail
2) delete Sky's copy (I've tried changing this, but it doesn't seem to make a difference?)

I've also ensured that my iPhone is still set to leave a copy of the message on the server:

Settings
Mail
Accounts
Advanced
Incoming Settings
Delete from server
Never

Although Sky Mail is powered by Google, trying to set up a Google Mail account up through the iPhone doesn't work. It seems to get confused that the end of your account ends in sky.com, not googlemail.com.

I'm hoping that someone knows the answer to this problem?

Re: iPhone

I have a GMail account myself and I can confirm it's a bit unusual! Whilst I don't download to a mobile phone I do have GMail delivered to my own Domain. To do this I set GMail to Forward incoming emails to my Domain but leave the email in my GMail Inbox. If you are simply reading your GMail (sorry Sky!) then the copy on the GMail server (Sky) may well be marked as 'read' and so won't be downloaded to Outlook the next time you log on from your computer.

Re: iPhone

This has been answered before.

You need to list your username to 'recent:yourname@sky.com' - you only need to do this on one device and I reccomend your laptop/desktop

That will get both receiving mail.

The only draw back is that you will receive your own sent messages on the one with the 'recent' pre-fix.

For that I simply set a message rule to bin any messages sent to my sky address from my sky address.

Let me know how you get on.

Re: iPhone

Found this on Sky help centre hope it helps

Log into Sky webmail, click mail settings, forwarding and pop/imap
enable IMAP.

Configure your mail client:

1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Mail.
3. Tap Add Account.
4. Tap Other. (Note: Don't tap Sky Email; if you do, you'll set up POP rather than IMAP. We are aware of this issue and are currently working to make setting up Sky Email more intuitive for the iPhone).
5. Make sure that:
- The IMAP tab is highlighted
- Host Name is imap.tools.sky.com
- Username is your full Sky Email address, including '@sky.com'
- For Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), Host Name is smtp.tools.sky.com

6. Tap Save.

And you've finished. You can verify your Advanced settings by tapping Settings, then [your Sky Email IMAP Account] followed by Advanced.

Incoming Settings:
- Use SSL: ON
- Authentication: password
- Server Port: 993 for IMAP.

Outgoing Settings:
- Use SSL: ON
- Authentication: Password
- Server Port: 465

Re: iPhone

Hi,

I'm having the same problem, very frustrating. Tried the "recent" settings and its not working for me.

I never used IMAP, always POP, if I set up an account as above will it work as IMAP on iPhone and POP on Mac mail?

Basically I just want my mail on both phone and mac. Anyway will do! LOL

Thanks in advance…

Re: iPhone

Error setting up Sky e-mail account on mobile or PC - If you enter all details as specified by Sky but still get an error message that the Username or Password are incorrect it may be because it requires you to input the original password that was used when you set up your Sky Broadband / e-mail account.
I had this problem as i could log in online and access e-mail using my new password but it would not accept the password when i tried to set it up on my iPhone. If you don't have your original password then contact Sky Broadband help and ask them to synchronize your sky e-mail with google mail (Sky email is hosted by Google mail). You should then be able to set up your e-mail address. I successfully used the IMAP settings on my iPhone. They didn't work with Outlook 2002 so i also enabled the POP settings and used them for accessing mail on my PC. I hope this helps all of you struggling with your settings.
Good luck.
