I'm going to have another go shortly with these settings and a machine that has never had a firewall or AV software installed. Just incase, despite them being disabled, they are still causing a problem.
I'll let you know but last time I tried to log into skyuser from that machine I couldn't get logged on to post replys so I might have to wait till late tonight to reply.
Cheers!!

Nope, I just select 'No' from that setting as shown above.

Re: FOA Newsreader Please Help!!
Hi All,
Despite deleteing cookies etc & trying to log in to this site from my new house I still can't get in. I get a message saying "thanks you for logging in" but it then goes back to the window I was in before & I'm not shown as being logged in??
Anyway, Things are not really improoving, not much anyway!!
I can now get logged into both my Googlemail account & the Sky/google account (even with OE6) BUT & it's a big but I an still not receiving any mails. I can send them out no probs & they are there in my inbox on the web portal (both googlemail & sky/google)
The odd thing is that I got logged into my sky/google account with the same password as my googlemail account, which is not the right password & is not the same one that I use to log into the web portal??? WTF!!!
Here's the other odd bit. When I first set up the googlemail account & got it to connect for the first time I yet again received the "welcome" mail but just like with the Sky/google account I can't download any other mails that have been sent to me & so they are just sitting there in the respective web portal inboxes.
Yes, I have pop downloads enabled for both accounts but I'm not getting anything apart from the welcome mails & that wasn't really sent to me as such as it's an automated mail.
I had a go with a windows box running XP with no AV software or firewall running, same results. I then tried running Knoppix (linux) from a CD (In case it was a windows problem) & created accounts in mozilla mail. Again same results!!
I've tried setting up accounts on another PC with my current ISP (Blueyonder) at my parents house & guess what, same results again!!
Bottom line, I cannot receive any mails that were sent from an external source but I can see them through the web portal in each account.
Many thanks for your help people but what the hell do I do now???
edit - No, Hang on - I can't send mails through OE6 as I get an authentication error. I'm pretty sure sure it worked o.k. with Tunderbird & TLS but my memory is fading - I've tried so many different things!!

Re: FOA Newsreader Please Help!!
I've just signed up for yet another different email alternative, this time bluebottle so I'll give that a go and see if I can manage to connect to their servers with a mail client - Fingers crossed!!!

Re: FOA Newsreader Please Help!!
was just asking, cause it has to be something on your PC setup that's affecting it as I can set it all up with no issues at all.....
i'm stumped tbh
Just a thought, you tried to get in contact with the mail provider and ask them if there's anything you're doing wrong?

Re: FOA Newsreader Please Help!!
Well, I've eliminated the Windows factor by trying it with linux & that gave the same results. I've tried loging on from computers using other ISP's, nothing. And that rules out any fault with any comms cards at the exchange & any router issues.
I don't think there is anything in the router settings that would affect it anyway.
TBH This is just the tip of the iceberg. My SNR drops to 5.1 Regularly. (oddly, Its worse late at night compared to during the day when I get about 8-9) I've plugged in at the test socket. SNR was actually worse??
still to do a full stats reading yet but I'm not expecting it to look good at all. I had hoped to solve my mail probs first but that's not exactly going well.
I honestly might be beter jumping ship before sky have me hook line & sinker. I've only had sky as my ISP for 4 days & som far, nothing works as I'd like.

Re: FOA Newsreader Please Help!!
Success with bluebottle!!!!
Yes, That's right!! I can connect to there servers & send & receive mails through a mail client (OE6) I've still to try this from a machine connected to sky (ISP) but I expect it to work o.k. as it works fine from my blueyonder account.
Does anybody know if sky block port 25?? Shouldn't be a problem anyway, just asking.
This to me means that I have a problem with SSL & the mail server as the bluebottle account, like my blueyonder account does not require SSL & they are the only accounts I have that are working correctly.
Whatcha fink peeps???
