Sky Email and Outlook 2007
Hi all,
Hellllllllllllllllllllllp me please before I go mad !!!!
I have never had so much trouble set ting up a pop3 email account as I have had with sky. I joined up with sky broadband on 5th of september and I am still unable to get any email downloaded to my inbox in outlook 2007.
I can send email out no problem at all but it just won't come in. When I run a test is all goes through ok but the email just then sits at sky waiting to be delivered back to me.
I can log into the web portal and see all my emails so I know its working but I want them downloaded to my laptop!!
I did speak with the lovely people at Sky
who seem to be happy in just telling me outlook was not supported and I should phone Microsoft. I must say though at least the last guy I spoke to didn't try to fob me off he just told me "I don't know and if I did I would help you" honesty I suppose.
I have tried pop.sky.com which logs on but doesn't return any mail, pop.tools.sky.com which fails to log on and mail.sky.com which logs on but fails to return any mail. I have also changed the port settings to various numbers mentioned in other posts but still can't get this working.
Any help would be extremly welcome...........

Re: Sky Email and Outlook 2007
I had to mess about with settings for a while before I got it to work. This is what I did.
1) Logged in via web portal (found I was on google based mail). Went into mail settings then Forwarding and Pop and enabled pop for all mail.
2)Configured outlook 2007 as follows
Pop3 = pop.tools.sky.com
smtp = smtp.tools.sky.com
Username = full email addy including @sky.com
Ticked require logon using Secure Password Auth (SPA)
Click More settings
In the outgoing server tab click my outgoing (smtp) server requires auth
select logon using and put in your full email addy including @sky.com and password tick requires Secure Password Auth (SPA)
In the Advanced tab click this server requires and encrypted connection (ssl)
and this should change the pop3 port to 995
Outgoing Server change port to 465 and the drop down for Use the following type of encrypted connection select SSL.
Doing all of that has got mine running spot on. Hope it helps
John

Re: Sky Email and Outlook 2007
as i mentioned in another post - Outlook WON'T work unless you've also set the sky/google mail to forward email to a client.....so if you havent done that yet then do and it should work

Re: Sky Email and Outlook 2007
once logged into your inbox, they'll be the option in the top right corner saying 'settings'
click on this and go to the 'Forwarding and POP' section
then on the 'POP Download' section, select 'Enable POP for all mail'
click save changes
that should be it...(this is based on normal Googlemail - I don't have Sky/googlemail but should be the same)-------------------------------------------
