Re: Just had Sky Broadband activated. What can I expect?
Just called Sky and they confirmed that DLM had completed on my line at 2.5Mbps. After putting me on hold for about 10 minutes, they said they'd reconfigured the line as it looked like it could cope with a little bit more speed. I was told a technician would contact me to check if everything is okay.
The stats are now;
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 11323 16283 0 7495 45177 0:14:08
LAN Up 12839 9565 0 25866 3642 0:21:56
WLAN Up 10669 7840 0 340 120 0:21:34
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4047 kbps 510 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.0 dB 32.6 dB
Noise Margin 7.2 dB 12.5 dB

Re: Just had Sky Broadband activated. What can I expect?
Thank you for all of your help over the past week or so, I really appreciate it.
Is it possible for me to find out somehow if those stats indicate that I am on G.DMT or ADSL2+ ? The advisor on the phone said I might need to reboot my router to see the changes but I noticed it jumped from 3000+ to 4000 kbps quite quickly. I'm thinking would rebooting when its quieter maybe give me a little bit more speed or is it best to leave things as they are? Don't fancy having to go through DLM again

Re: Just had Sky Broadband activated. What can I expect?
You are on ADSL2+.
If you were on ADSL then the upstream & downstream figures would be divisible by 32.

Re: Just had Sky Broadband activated. What can I expect?
Thanks again, I should be getting a call from a technician in a day or two. Im wondering if maybe a move to G.DMT would be beneficial or if its best to just leave things as they are, give or take a few kbps loss.
I've read a few posts on here about users rebooting when the noise margin is high to get a better speed. I wonder if that would work with ADSL2+?

Re: Just had Sky Broadband activated. What can I expect?
I did consider mentioning G.DMT/ADSL in my last response, but I really believe that you ought to consider the wiring first. With your current line ADSL isn't going to provide you any significant benefit.
As for rebooting the router, again you aren't going to get any significant improvements.

Re: Just had Sky Broadband activated. What can I expect?
You are on ADSL2+ at the moment, a change to G.DMT would not make a lot of difference to your speed. But, if your speed drops or your line becomes unstable, then you should ask for a move to G.DMT.
Booting at a quiet time on the line can increase your speed, but as you are probably capped at 4096, you will not gain much. You should ask them to increase your upload, 796(800 cap) should be possible.
