      Lower Speed After Line Testing

Since getting Sky Unlimited in 2008 I have constantly achieved brilliant connection speeds (15000+kbs before 20mb, 18000+kbs since) and never experienced any disconnects or problems. However, Sky began line testing on the 19th of this month and I have been gimped at 15357kbs since. Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience and if so, have they been able to get their speed increased back to its former glory? (I know you can request for a bump of about 1 meg, but that would still be a net loss over my previous speed).
      Any help much appreciated,
      NNNN

      How do you know this?

Actually misread it in the sticky, so my problem might not be as bad as I was thinking, but

'Yes. Once DLM is complete on your line you should make a call in to Sky and ask for your line to be manually set to a higher speed. Sky's current policy is to set the line to within 1Mbps of what it was prior to DLM (NB: This may change).'

What Is DLM? Everything you need to know.

Re: Lower Speed After Line Testing

Looking at those stats actually it looks like your already right next to the limit target noise margin of 6.9db. You can expect to get at most 500kbps per db of noise margin you are over that, with 8db your 1.1db over it so your looking at only getting up to maybe 15.9mb. Post your test socket stats so we can see if there is anything else you can do to get a higher speed.

Re: Lower Speed After Line Testing

Strange, I'm sure they were higher (sync, not margin :P)in the past. Will try to get a test socket speed test up soon. Is there anything obvious which could have increased my noise margin? I haven't changed any internal wiring or added any new phones.

Also, just noticed on another post (DLM Set line speed lower than expected) that their noise margin changed once they asked sky for a manual reconfig, so would this be a possibility?
Thanks to all replies so far btw

Re: Lower Speed After Line Testing

Your noise margin has DECREASED if you're saying you've had 18Mbps+ before...7db is the default profile Sky set to a line so your SNR at 8db will only give another 500kbps or so still bringing you to 16Mbps-odd...posting stats from your test socket will prove if it's an issue with your internal wiring or something else

If you'd been capped/left low from DLM your noise margin would be in double figures indicating more speed to be had

Re: Lower Speed After Line Testing

Not a lot of difference, but I think a clever support tech could get you near your original speed. You have a lot of noise margin to spare in your upload.
