      If you're on windows xp:-

start > right click 'my computer' and click properties > third tab along click on 'hardware' > click device manager > click 'network adapters' and then check if you have a wireless lan card listed.

If you're on win vista or 7:-

start > in the search bar above that type 'devmgmt.msc' > click the device manager link above the search bar > click network adapters > look for a wireless lan card

If you only have an ethernet controller in there, then you don't have a wireless adapter. I'm not sure on the prices - shop around and they're probably around 20 quid for a wireless dongle.

Mate, I know you're trying to help, but a bit of spelling and proper punctuation wouldn't go a miss.

NVIDIA nForce Netoworking Controller is the only adapater present. I believe I will have to buy a Wireless Card and Install it manually?

Re: Billed for 20mb but only receiving 0.8mb

Firstly, I will connect my router through the Main Socket or Test Socket with a short DSL cable? Then, check if the speed test shows better results, if not phone up Sky and tell them to uncap my internet speed as I have improved my line speed.

      Anything to add?

Re: Billed for 20mb but only receiving 0.8mb

That should be referring to your ethernet NIC, so yes, it would seem you'll need to get a wireless dongle.

In regards to the speed - connect the router to the test socket with the short dsl cable and make a note of the stats (including the noise margins, as that's most important at this point). Then, screw the faceplate back on and re-take the stats from the master socket. If the stats do not vary, in other words if there is not an increase of noise margin in the test socket compared to the master, then your internal wiring will be fine, in which case you can just keep it in the master socket and ask sky to uncap the line.

If there is a difference between the test socket and master socket readings, then you have internal wiring issues and you're best getting a filtered faceplate in that case.

Re: Billed for 20mb but only receiving 0.8mb

Let's not confuse the matter here. The reason the speed was slow is due to incorrect physical set-up. Of course the original poster will never get speeds like you have in your sig, Deadman, due to the distance from the exchange, but that's not the problem here.

Re: Billed for 20mb but only receiving 0.8mb

As you can see, whilst connected to the test socket your attenuation has slightly decreased (good thing) and the noise margin has increased a good bit (also a good thing). That means, if you're fussed about getting as much speed as possible, then you'll push out more speed in the test socket than the master socket. You could try removing the bell wire from the faceplate, as it's not needed and may give you better results whilst in the master socket with the faceplate screwed on -

Either way, if you call up sky then they can uncap you now. 08442410515 is the number.
