Download dropped to 45kbps all week

Since DLM started on my line on the 18th (which should have completed yesterday in the ten day limit, but the Sky online account is still showing that it's under testing) my downloads have dropped to a lowest rating of 27mbps to a highest of 72mbps. Previously it was 178mbps (using Speedtest.net for all tests).

My line should be capable of a maximum of 3mb which is what both my neighbours get (one with O2, the other with AOL) but the highest I have ever got on any test is 201mbps.

I've tried emailing Sky (by submitting a complaint form) to say that they never told me DLM would start and that I would have been turning my router on and off as I required it during the first four days of the testing, until I logged in to Sky to see what was going on. I haven't received a reply.

What can I do? Seriously thinking of ditching and going to O2 this weekend as they've still got there offer on until the end of the month.

Apologies the kbps should have been mbps, I got my terminology wrong.

Connection Speed 511 kbps 493 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.0 db 40.8 db
Noise Margin 11.8 db 9.0 db

Post your stats from the test socket also.

BTW DLM doesn't have an absolute "limit" of 10 days, it can sometimes finish early or take a few days longer.

That is from the test socket (at least I think it is, it's the first main socket in the house with the removable lower section).

Re: Download dropped to 45kbps all week

And you've removed the lower section and connected the router directly?

Re: Download dropped to 45kbps all week

Just done that now, here you go:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 511 kbps 480 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.0 db 40.9 db
Noise Margin 16.1 db 10.5 db

(still going through the filter, but from the filter directly into the test socket. I have tried different filters as well).

DLM has droped your speed for some reason, before you phone Sky check that when you are using the test socket you have no dial tone at any other telephone socket you may have

Re: Download dropped to 45kbps all week

That's made quite a bit of difference to your noise margin and should reflect in a much better connection speed once DLM has finished, although it looks like you're going to have to get Sky CST to manually configure the connection as DLM hasn't worked very well.

What this has shown is that you have some issues with your internal wiring - do you have any other phone sockets coming off the master?

Re: Download dropped to 45kbps all week

We have one other phone socket in the upstairs bedroom which I connect the other router to (we have two routers in the house, only one connected at the time though. The other one is used for the XBOX upstairs and the phone line is pulled out of the other router when they're not in use, as well as switched off).

Any reason why I couldn't just have the downstairs router connected directly into the test socket all the time, rather than through the faceplate?
