My question is: Will DLM sort this out and allow me to get the speeds i use to get, or can i call sky and ask them to put me back on ADSL2+?
Would really appreciate your help guys, im getting really p***** off with sky because of this!

Strange this has happened to you. I got the exact opposite situation !
I'm on Sky MAX also. Do you want to swap ?

If DLM runs like last time, it appears to favour ADSL2+ mode, so you may be
in luck. I'd recommend contacting Sky anyway as it sounds like you can run
ADSL2+ mode no problem.
I was running fine on G.DMT mode. Sometimes got up to 3.5Mb with a 3.8km
line and that was with a nearby interference source ! ( now removed ).
I was looking forward to 4Mb downsync speed, but Sky in their wisdom
decided to move me to ADSL2+ mode and cap my line to 2560 downsync !
Now most evenings and nighttime I loose sync for hours at a time as my
setup cannot support ADSL2+ reliably. I thought DLM was to make connections
more reliable, not screw them up totally ! I'm hoping Sky release updated
firmware for the v2 routers before running DLM again as the v2 Netgear is
TI AR7 based and doesn't appear to have the ADSL connection stability patch
that the V1 router got recently... If they run DLM like before, but only release
the updated firmware afterwards, I'll be up a certain creek without a form
of locomotion !!

If this happens, I'll be wishing Feb 09 comes as soon
as possible so my 12 month contract is up and I can go back to Zen Internet.
They're not cheap, but at least they know what they're doing !
Sorry for the rant...
