Sky & DLM This is a discussion on, Which "mode" am I on ? within the Sky Broadband help and support forum; attenuation of 53 will lead to a sync of around 2.5-3Mbps...so you're spot on there... on gdmt, you'd get 3-3.5Mbps... ...

UNLESS your line is extremely clear...

Is that gdmt at 50db or 53db gives 3-3.5Mps.. ?
I had 50db on gdmt before DLM...
Do you have any idea how I can get SKY to move me back to gdmt please ?
They seem very reluctant to do it, and just quote improved line stability.
The noise margin seems to drop a lot further at night on ADSL2+ than I can
remember on gdmt (over the full 10db margin at times causing re-syncs!).
If anything, the line appears to be less stable now in the day/night than it
was when my *neighbours TV was killing the connection every Evening...

(* Educated guess, as OFCOM Radio Investigation Engineer wasn't allowed to
tell me which property/appliance was causing 11 months of REIN interference ! )

thanks
Alex

Re: Which "mode" am I on ?

Just to go back to basics, have you taken your stats when you are plugged into the Test socket, if you have one. I ask as your pre-DLM figures are not very good for your attenuation. You should have been connecting at double what you were getting then. Sorry if you have already tried this, but if you have not and your noise margin rises a fair bit, it would strengthen your case for uncapping.

Hi, Yes I've tried the test socket and there is no difference in stats.
I suspect the pre-DLM stats were poor because of the interference source.
BT did a "lift & shift" & changed the D-side line connection when trying to
improve the connection last year when I was on my previous ISP. These
actions improved attn from 54db to 50db, but didn't locate interference
source. OFCOM engineer found source of interference recently, but it was too
late to prevent SKY from running DLM before fault was cleared...
Talk about bad timing !

thanks
Alex
