The trouble with SRA is that is does nothing to cure an instablity problem, it just makes the re-sync seamless.
Where as DLM (now don't all jump on me at once) does make a line more stable and stop the re-syncs, I would add when DLM is operating correctly.

SRA stops resynchs it retrains whilst the line stays synched. So yea it stops instability, a SRAd line would only drop synch I imagine with a very large fluctuation of signal. Of course SRA probably brings its own share of problems and I expect only works on certian routers but you would think sky can ship out a router thats compatible with SRA so making a mute issue.

Would be pointless anyway, Sky do not use SRA

AFAIK the routers are (The Phase one routers anyway).

doh.

I am talking if sky did use SRA instead of DLM.

ok I will start again laymen terms.

1 - sky trialling DLM which is a messy way of trying to improve line stability.
2 - An alternative to DLM is SRA which adapts synch speed to maintain SNR margin on adsl2 lines, if noise increases on a line SRA reduces synch speed to accomodate, if noise decreases it increases synch speed, it does this without a disconnection.
3 - I made a point that not all routers are compatible with SRA but as sky choose what router their customers use that wouldnt be a problem as they can make sure their customers would be using a comptible router.

I hope that explains what I meant.

The fact customers were migrating away because of DLM, was counter productive it was meant to make the BB experiences better not worse, this was from one person in CST i don't know if its true or just waffle...
Only time will tell i guess
I don't think the whole 'let's just forget DLM' argument will happen I'm afraid as they advised us that it was a stabilisation for progressive downloads for VoD - I somehow can't see them renaiging on this anytime soon. They may make large changes and tweaks to the way they use it though. They also mentioned that it was launched on the worst performing lines which had already had problems, therefore I assume the remainder of their connections/lines should be better managed - time will tell off course

I dont think that is quite true, it was applied to members here who had lines that would not benefit unless sky removed the 16meg cap. I agree tho that I dont think weve heard the last of it. Hopefully they will have learnt from the experience and do it better next time.
