      Wireless connector issue

      Model: SC201

The problem is that when I go to on demand I get this:

Your SKY+ HD box is unable to connect to your broadband router

If I come out of it and wait a minute or so then it works but it's getting a bit annoying. I used to use an ethernet cable but we moved the TV too far away from the router to use that and never had any issues connecting that way.

Is there a setting somewhere I need to change to fix this?

If it makes any difference we have sky fibre and the router is a Sagemcom, F@ST2504n

Try changing the channel on the router.

Changed from 11 to 6 and that seems to have worked. I'll see how it goes. Thank you for the suggestion.

      Back to not working.

The network settings on the sky box say fail next to service connection.

Just given up and run ethernet cable around the room. What are my chances of getting a refund on this wireless I might or might not connect box?

      Re: Wireless connector issue

The Fail next to Service Connection is not really a wireless problem. If it says OK next to Local Connection that means that you are connecting to the router, but the router is failing to connect to the Service. You may find you have the same problem with an ethernet connection.

I have the older WG902 and it works quite well, but the newer one is said to work much better. I would not give up on it yet.

      Re: Wireless connector issue

There's no problem with the internet connection. We've got numerous things connected - phones, tablets, pc's etc and at the time it says "fail" the internet is still working just fine. When I wrote the "back to not working" post it was sat there saying fail. No problems since using the ethernet cable just as there wasn't any before using the wireless connector. It may as well be in the bin, it's too ugly to be a paper weight.

      Re: Wireless connector issue

I think you are misunderstanding. When I say the router is failing to connect to the service, I don't mean there is anything wrong with the internet, just that the router/STB is unable to connect to the Sky server. This happens quite a lot with those using their own router or with another ISP, it is unusual with someone using Sky with a Sky router. Give it a few days with the ethernet and if everything is OK, you could offer the Wireless sender for sale in the General section of the forum.

      Re: Wireless connector issue

Been using ethernet cable for just shy of a month now with no issue. The wireless connector is definitely at fault. I can't sell it on as it simple doesn't work.

      Re: Wireless connector issue

You could return it to Sky for a refund.
