      Re: Sky's New Wireless Connector

I am experiencing problems with my Sky wireless connector box with it randomly dropping connection with the router. Sky sent me a brand new HD box which has not resolved the issue unfortunately. I am aware that there are non Sky alternatives out there such as....

Vonets VAP11G WIFI Bridge: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

I was just wondering how and why alternatives may be a better bet as both devices seem to be 2.4ghz wireless devices ? Is the Sky device no good simply due to interference from other electrical devices meaning an alternative may have similar issues ?

I did call Sky the other night who talked me through resetting then reconnecting the wireless box but it is still hit and miss. They offered to send me a new connector box if the problem continues but I can't help thinking that a new one will be no better.

The Sky device is very good, but even the best of equipment will suffer if it is not getting a good signal. As it is wireless N as opposed to the Vonets wireless G, it should be better. A poor signal can be due to interference from other devices or the fabric of the building which may not allow a good signal to pass through. So as you say, it will probably not matter what device you use, you may still have problems. You cannot beat a ethernet cable with a homeplug circuit coming a close second.

I got one this wek & want to access as above.
There were no details relating to the username & password, Sky's helpdesk were their usual 'as much use as a chocolate teapot!'

The firmware image for the standard wireless connector (not mini) is AirTies_SC201_FW_1.0.7.4.bin

You can download it from skyfirmware.com though the download method is a little convoluted.

      Start with: http://sc201.skyfirmware.com/timeche...product=skydsl
substituting your connectors own MAC address.

Anyone know where the firmware for the mini Sky wireless connector can be found?
