Downloaded Programs Information (Dates,Episode Nos etc)

Some Downloaded programs show only the Download Date Info & brief Program Synopsis.
For Program Series e.g. Soaps the information needed to view programs in the right order is either or both of
Original Showing Date and Series/Episode Nos.
These as shown when selecting programs to download but not when the programs are downloaded.
Downloaded Eastenders ( BBC ) episodes do display the Showing Date - at the start of the Synopsis.
Downloaded Coronation Street ( ITV ) episodes do not show this - only the Download Date - not very useful.

Neither show Series/Episode Nos, although for ITV, these are shown when selecting programs to download

Surely it should should be possible to download and display this information.

It is ironical that it is the BBC Episodes ( at least Eastenders ) which show the useful Episode Dates and not ITV Episodes ( at least Coronation Street ) since ITV downloads are much more useful in having a much longer Expiry Date than BBC downloads, which are pitifully short.

This really limits the value of the system.

      Surely this should be possible.

      Please respond Sky

Firstly, this isn't an official Sky forum so "Sky" won't respond here.

Secondly, the information you are asking for needs to be provided by the relevant broadcaster so I would suggest e-mailing them first to find out if they are sending this to Sky.

Re: Downloaded Programs Information (Dates,Episode Nos etc)

There are quite a few annoying quirks that the different broadcasters mess around with.

Simple differences like using "New" to identify a new series messes up the planner. Add to this the fact that some put a colon after ' the word and others don't, the gets worse as searching gets harder.

As bubblegun has correctly pointed out though, this information is provided by the originating broadcasters (i.e. BBC, ITV, UKTV, Universal). If you press the 'i' button on your remote you will often find a 2nd or even 3rd page with further information though.

Some do now provide the series and episode number. However if it isn't there I find Wikipedia quite useful to help me to identify which one it is.

Does not the fact that say for Coronation Street, the programs selectable for download actually show the Showing Date and Series/Episode Nos mean that Sky have this information already ? If so, then surely it could be made available in the Information in the download. It would just make life so much easier when trying to slot in episodes downloaded because they were missed with those recorded from the planner.

Re: Downloaded Programs Information (Dates,Episode Nos etc)

No one is denying that it would make things easier.

However the information needs to be provided.

Whilst the EPG is present in accordance to Sky's terms and conditions, they are not responsible for the content, unless it is for their own channels (i.e. Sky1, Sky Sports 2 and Sky Movies).

If you are asking for the BBC to show this information on all their TV series, then you should write to the BBC. Likewise for any content on ITV you will need to contact ITV.

There are multiple broadcasters now in the UK. Each will have their own content and each are responsible for how it is presented and the information provided, whether it is on the EPG, in the Catch Up section or in the On Demand section.
