Sky deny that they provided Broadband and wont give a mac code.

A long story short. My mother rang Sky and cancelled her BB with them (this past November .....she only has BB not phone, thats still with BT) asked for her mac code so she could move to Plusnet. Sky claimed that since June 08(since around 05 shes been with Sky BB) she has not been supplied her BB by Sky so they could not give her the MAC. They informed her that BT supplied her BB. Well BT dont, shes never had BB with BT or any other company Sky did, to which effect after contacting OFCOM (whom were useless tbh) Sky wrote a letter informing her that BT wholesale have the line and she needs to contact them. Spoke to BT wholesale who claim that SKY still have the line (LLU) and they cant do anything (the guy tried to get a mac code but failed). Back on the phone to Sky who know claim that her contracted ended on the 4th December 2012 (she still had BB up untill today, now its stopped) and they cant get a mac code. its BT who have the line. Shes sick fed up of ringing BT and Sky and Plusnet whom not one of these companies do anything to help, which has now resulted in her having no internet whatsoever and she cant move to any other provider because BT and Sky are arguing over who actually has tagged the line. OFCOM are useless, after several phonecalls, letters etc they have done nothing to get to the bottom of this. She even emailed jeremy darroch at Sky in the hope that he could get something done. Still nothing.

So in effect my mother now has no internet connection. Made even worse at this time of year when she wanted to skype with my brother, wife and kids in Australia on xmas day.

      Any advice gratefully received.

Are there any tags on the line now?

BE Usergroup - Try the checker on that site, If I remember rightly it will return the status of the line (i.e if it has DSL already)

If it's a SVBN line it probably won't show up at all.

If the service has ended then the line should clear enabling your mother to order BB from the supplier of her choice. The purpose of a MAC is to allow change of BB supplier without an interruption of service. Provisioning will usually take ten days so unfortunately she will not have BB for christmas. Has she considered purchasing an international calling card to allow her to make cheap calls to landlines in Australia?

BT Recorded Line Length to Exchange (m): 2722
      BE LLU: Activated
Real Error: Migration code required for this number

Did the sales checker not sure if this is what I should check? But as you can see the info pasted above came back.

Its a strange one because SKY claim that the account and line closed on the 4th December, but she still had BB up untill today, so im assuming that the 10 day period would start from today when the BB stopped. Ta for the international calling card idea.

Looks like there's still broadband on the line as far as the database is concerned.

Is there anyway to check who has her line just by using her telephone number?

Its on a BT line or you would get something like this -
"Real Error: BT Error or not a BT or BT Wholesale Line Rental number"

If she is in a decent reception area you could consider a PAYG 3g dongle -

If you PM me the telephone number in question, I could check whose tag is on the line.
