      Ready to order .... but

I'm 99% sold on moving from BT broadband, BT Vision (TV) and BT landline to the complete Sky package.

However, before I push that 'submit' button I'm absolutely terrified that nothing will happen in perfect synch.

For example, I'll be disconnected from my BT BB, but my Sky one won't be enabled ... same applies to my phone line.

And worst of all, having no TV; as my BT Vision is reliant on having BT BB; if I lose one, then I'm scuppered.

And to add a little chaos into the mix, my dish installation would not be a normal one; so I'd need to speak to an installation specialist beforehand.

Does anyone have any advice or guidance on how to handle the complete switchover? And more importantly, any guidance on how/where to get some dish pre-installation advice.

      Many thanks in advance,

      K

The best way to do it would be to leave your phone rental with BT for the time being. Sign up for Sky TV, phone calls and broadband. You would need to get a MAC from BT to transfer your broadband. The TV is always installed pretty quickly(Xmas period excepted) so you will not need to worry too much about that. Transferring with a MAC there will be little downtime for your broadband between BT cutting you off and Sky enabling. Your Vision should work up until your broadband is transferred, unless you cancel it beforehand.

I recommend doing it this way as some have found taking out Sky phone rental and broadband at the same time can result in the broadband being down for 10-14 days.

I forgot to add, make absolutely sure your exchange has been enabled by Sky and there is a slot for you. Don't under any circumstances sign up for Connect.

Yeaahhhh! Another person ditching BT Vision

Seriously though, Sky TV installations are normally quite painless. They are can also completed before the telephone line is changed over.

When you book you will be provided with dates so you can easily anticipate any issues.

As for the BB, this is sometimes on the same day as your line, other times a week or two later.

Keep the PowerLine adapters though. You can use them to connect your Sky STB to your router if it isn't close to the TV. This is for Anytime+.
