New Router?

I've been with Sky for a little over a year now - signed up in December 2008. I have a Netgear DG834GT router and of course it's had no firmware update or anything.

I don't want to leave Sky (I have TV, phone and BB through them) but wondered if there was anything I can do to get a new router out of them, maybe by re-signing for another twelve months?

Any advice on whether this is possible and what I might need to do?

Thanks.

Re: New Router?

This one seems to be developing connection problems - internet will pause for minutes at a time, connection to laptops will pause for minutes at a time, router locks up at least once per week requiring a power down/power up. Nothing has changed on the network at home except one more laptop using it, but overall WiFi performance is a lot worse than it was when new.

Re: New Router?

Chances are there are more wireless networks in range which are affecting you.

Download netstunbler and that will scan for them and you can change the channel on your router accordingly.

Re: New Router?

Well - downloaded and ran and there's my network on Ch11 and one other on Ch1 and that's it.
