Re: Moving to sky from virgin

Virgin tried to pull the same stunt on me when i cancelled, saying i wouldn't get no more than 2mb & i'll be capped after 600mb download to 512k, I told them they were wrong & Sky do not have limits on their top package, Which led to the guy starting to argue with me about it.

Well Sky told me i'd get 5.5mb from my line, i was happy to accept that, But it has now been activated for 7 days & i'm getting:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9215 kbps 984 kbps

I couldn't be more happy, even in DLM period it is better than my 10mb Virgin line. So glad to leave that cowboy company after 15+ years of being with them. Bunch of lying gits is what that company is.

Re: Moving to sky from virgin

TBH Virgins BB, apart from the 50mb is rubbish now - Which is a shame, as I always wanted to be in their "area" But now, not a chance... And I certainly don't want to be paying almost £40 for my BB alone! Their other products, including the 20mb are hopelessly crippled EVERY night and make a mockery of their advertising.

I would be seriously tempted to report them to Sky.... At the end of the day, Sky is the ONLY truly unlimited and unrestricted package available in the UK today. Not only do they not implement a FUP on MAX, they don't actually have one!

Just shows how desperate Virgin are to retain customers - Definately not the sort of tactics you would expect from one of Bransons' companies....

My "estimate" was 2mb, But I get a rock solid 8mb, and I'm happy with that, as @ 43db attenuation, I have a fairly long line.

Mike

Whatever you do - DON't unplug or reboot the router if you can help it - The DLM will see it as an error and cut your speed... It will periodically disconnect and reconnect, as it tries to attain the fastest speed possible for your line.
