Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
thanks for all the info guys.
I think what i'm gonna do is use the still valid MAC code i've got to migrate to one of the Entanet resellers (monthly contracts).
As soon as thats gone live i will request a MAC from the new supplier which once arrived from them I will apply immediatley for SKY BB.
May lose about £20, but worth it not to be without internet for 25 days !!!!
Does that sound about right ??????
I've just ordered my Sky HD seperatley and thats coming this Thursday !!!

Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
Seems a good plan, but I would say that, wouldn't I
Maybe someone else can see possible pitfalls.

Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
Well turn out for the books.
I just phoned Sky BB sales to enquire about how many places are left for LLU on my exchange.
The bloke I spoke to didn't know of Ukonline, LLU or what i was talking about.
However, I was talked into trying the MAC code to try to place the order and hey presto....He said it was valid and that the order had gone through !!!!
(This is after I tried last week to order online and it was rejected as being invalid)
So fingers crossed its going to work

Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
I did e-mail ukoline with a question "If I were to move from Sky BB to Ukonline and bearing in mind you are both on Easynet, would a mac code work, or would I have to cancel Sky first and allow them to clear the line, My line rental is with BT". I have not yet received a reply, but if I do I will post it.
I know you wish to move the other way, but I was hopeing their reply would point you in the right direction.

Received a reply from Stuart Henderson at Ukoline sales, today (30 june) who says in answer to my question "That should not cause a problem at all" so you should be o.k

Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
Excellent, cheers Brian, I feel a little less worried about the process now
I've also just received e-mail confirmation that by Sky BB will be activated on the 08/07/2009 - so it does look like the MAC code was accepted after all !!!
Ah well, 8 days and we'll soon see

Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
Well sit back and wait for the paperwork and router, with any luck, they will send you a Sagem, so you could extract your username and password and compair it with the netgear from Ukoline when you are with Sky

Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
I'm actually using a Linksy's AM200 modem half-bridged to a Dlink DGL-4300 router.
I tired a netgear DG843GT but it synced around 14.8mb on my line.
The Linksys syncs at 16mb.
The good thing about the DG843GT thou is with the DGteam firmware it can support SRA on UKonline connections, but i don't believe Sky BB supports this feature so I'll probably give it a miss and keep using my existing kit.

Re: Migrate from Ukonline to Sky (LLU)
OK just to report success in the migration over from Ukonline to Sky using a MAC code.
Note: the MAC code wasn't accepted my the online ordering system, but was when ordered over the phone through sales a few days later.
I tried the MAC on online system within a few minutes of receiving it from Ukonline. It was 2 days later when I phoned sales - so don't know if this delay has any bearing, eg the MAC wasn't active when I first tried to use it.
I am now typing this from connected up via my new sky router.
The speed is somwhat slower, but i think i read somewhere sky start you off on a slow speed - then you start DLM and hopefully it increases.
Stats with sky (sagem 1.5fw)
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 27.0 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 20.6 db 14.0 db
Old Stats with Ukonlline (linksys AM200)
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15997 kbps 1024kbps
Line Attenuation 29 db 31 db
Noise Margin 7 db 10 db
Interrestingly I can connect with my sky router and also with my Ukonline Kit (different user and pass ) but on the same stats eg 4mb down and 515k up.
Fingers crossed I start to get speeds near to where I was with UKonline in the future.
I've also tried to use my linksy modem with my sky user name and pass from the generator but it didn't work.
