      Windows 98 problem

I have an old laptop with Win98 which I can connect to the Sky router using a cable and access the net. I would like to be able to get the laptop to connect using the wireless card but so far something isn't working. It does pick up the signal from the router but I'm not able to get it to connect it seems.

When I run winipcfg it isn't possible to release the wireless card and renew the connection. Has anyone got any suggestions? TIA. Installing XP on the laptop isn't an option as it only has 128 Mb RAM.

I'm running XP on a 400mhz laptop with 128meg. It works quite well.
      XP certainly makes networking easier.

Your wireless problem may be to do with WPA encryption settings. Disable encryption in the router before attempting to set up wireless. While you're in there turn off UPnP which seems to cause lots of people intermittent problems.

thanks I tried that but it didn't help much except I was able to release and renew the connection.
