      Angry Nightmare! Help needed !

      Hi Guys

My mother has been unconnected for 6 weeks, she has had 2 modems sent over both were faulty. She now has another which again does not connect. After speaking to SKY Tech they have ran checks and say the line is ok and you need to speak with BT.

We have spoken to BT who confirm that the line is ok nothing wrong there end.

So same old story Sky blame BT & BT blame sky. I have spoken to a senior techy at SKY and they promised to call me back. NOTHING!! no call. Called again yesterday and again promised a call back. NOTHING..

Dont know where to go from here guys.. Maybe just cancel the lot..

      Any help really appreciated.

      John

Never thought of that... Thanks for the help NOT!!

Maybe I should just take my computer back to the shop cuz I obviously don't know how to use it.
And whilst I'm at it I might as well send my MCP back to Microsoft and my A+ cert back to Comptia.
You have been most helpful, I think I'll forget about continuing my career as a computer technician and maybe take up flower arranging instead.

      Kind regards.

Well for one so highly qualified in the tech industry, you didn't provide much information other than it doesn't work, what do I do?

Also, from your attitude I feel that there won't be many others leaning to offer their assistance.

      Re: Nightmare! Help needed !

I would disconnect all phones and also plug the router into the test socket

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-master.html

If you get the green i light you know the line is ok, and so could be a wiring issue in the house.

Did your mother have broadband before?

      If so any problems?

You really do need to give us some more info.

      Re: Nightmare! Help needed !

I have already done as there level 1 tech people have suggested. I have even tried a known working router from a friend, to no avail.
Tried with everything disconnected and using the test point.
The computer works fine at a friends house, connected to their sky broadband straight away.
The line is apparently fine, so BT reckon.
One of my friends had a similar problem with tiscali. Tiscal saying there was a fault on the line, BT saying the line was fine. In the end my friend canceled his broadband and went with another provider. And never had any problems after that. My reckoning is Tiscali were not on the ball when they moved over to the new LLU process.
Maybe one option is for sky to clear their tag off the line and reconnect.
But they aint gonna do that if they arnt accepting responsibility.
