Not sure why you are still not getting a better connection speed

Re: Upload speed dropped & Router stats

I'm on Sky Max and my router stats are :

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.5 db 14.1 db
Noise Margin 10.1 db 12.0 db

My noise margin rarely falls below 7db, even at peak times and attenuation is usually around 26.5 db. Yours is far lower which means you should be able to get a potential 16,000 kbps connection speed.

That clearly shows a couple of things:

      • You're capped by Sky at 9982kbps
      • You have a significant noise problem caused by your internal phone wiring (note how the attenuation drops and the noise margin leaps up with the test socket)

First you need to solve the noise (fit a faceplate as recommended, stop using that extension, connect directly into the new faceplate) then get on to Sky to get your cap lifted.

Re: Upload speed dropped & Router stats

I have found out what the problem was Sky had capped my upload and download speeds I phone them yesterday and spoke to a tier 1 guy who said he could'nt tell if my line was capped I told him I already had a ticket number for the slow download but tier 3 had not bothered to call me back he checked out my ticket number and told me tier3 had closed the ticket without calling me or fixing the problem he had a word with his manager and said tier 3 would call back by monday 10 min ago I got a call from tier three he said my line had been capped download 9.8mb and upload 608kb he said was going to check the exchange to see there was any reasons why he found none reset something at the exchange and uncapped my line there seems to be a big improvement in router stats

      Router stats connectedto 10mtr extension

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10998 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.0 db 6.0 db
Noise Margin 16.1 db 13.5 db

If you are now uncapped then connecting via your test socket should give you ~16000kbps.

Re: Upload speed dropped & Router stats

Possibly but I have'nt tried it yet because I have to move my computer from one room to another to connect to test socket but when I first had sky broadband installed the router would connect at 15mb down 786kb up but it keep dropping the connection altough whenever I did online speed tests it never got above 12.5mb down sky said my line could take 18mb sky also said they would cap my line at 12.5mb to stop it dropping out but for some reason they Iniatially capped it at 12.5mb then somebody capped it at 9.8mb down 600kb up I'll think I will give it a while at this speed and then get sky to remove 12.5mb cap

If your connection keeps tripping out switch off the UPnP function on the Netgear router homepage.
