Query about BT tracker order - connect to max

      Hi

I am due to being going over to the max package on the 7th March.
My query is about the items on the bt order tracker that states my line will be max enabled on the 7th BUT the IP stream max won't cease until the 12th March. IS this right? Has I would have thought they would have ceased my line first then enable the LLU package.

      Order reference ********
      Placed 26 Feb 2007
      Description CHANGE
      Appointment No date yet
      Date due 12 Mar 2007
      Status In progress
      Last update 05 Mar 2007
Notes Your order is in progress.

      Items in this order
Description Product name Quantity Cost Rental
      CEASE BT IPSTREAM MAX 1 0.0 0.0

      Order reference ********
      Placed 26 Feb 2007
      Description CHANGE
      Appointment No date yet
      Date due 07 Mar 2007
      Status In progress
      Last update 05 Mar 2007
Notes Your order is in progress.

      Items in this order
Description Product name Quantity Cost Rental
PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0

When the order was placed on the 26th sky did inform me(actually I had to ring them to find out) that there was a weeks delay because of a problem with BT. Having read previous reports it stated that 3 days was enough for the transfer over. After the wait I have endured I am keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Here are my router stats as of now:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.0 db 20.0 db
Noise Margin 11.8 db 29.0 db

Am I right in thinking I should get close to the 16MB?

The overlap period is normal & won't have any effect as when the LLU takes place you will be physically disconnected from the DSLAM that hosts your IPSTREAM.

When you do go live on the Sky service tell your old ISP straight away that you have been disconnected & that you are no longer connected to their service. Sky are meant to do this but often it doesn't happen & you find yourself being billed by your previous provider.

Based on your downstream attenuation of 31db you could possibly get between 10 & 14Mb download.

Thanks for the reply, but I am actually switching from the Sky connect package to max, but I guess the same rule will still apply.

Re: Query about BT tracker order - connect to max

Hi, I also have a question about the BT tracker ..

If I enter my number I get " 23 Feb 2007 CHANGE 06 Mar 2007 06 Mar 2007" .. click on detail and I get "We weren't able to retrieve your order information. This could be a temporary system issue, please try again later." ... this has been like that since the order was put in.

If I enter my number in to the DSL ZoneUK order tracker I get "ADSL is activated on this line and there are no open orders on the BT system. (Migrations excluded)".

I was on HomeChoice, and am supposed to be on Sky today, but I'm getting no signal. (I guess this counts as a migration?)

If I just leave my router on, will the signal connect automatically when the work has been done at the exchange? What work do they actually have to do? Is there anyway I can easily see when it has been actioned?

      Thanks

You can leave the router on and wait for the "i" signal to light up but if today is the date for activation you could be waiting right up until midnight tonite.
I wouldn't worry about it, patience is the key.

That's the problem .. patience! I'm also getting a sore neck from leaning over to see if the light has come on. At least I don't have to keep unplugging it etc, have got some little sparks out if it when plugging in .. slightly worrying!

Anyway, still not on. Sod's law ... I just had another neck lean ... I'm enabled ... lol

      How's this look?

Connection Speed 15323 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.0 db 9.2 db
Noise Margin 15.3 db 13.5 db

Thanks, I'm suitably impressed with the download speed. Using torrent I've just been over 1000kB/s ... wow.

Enjoy your max when you get switched today
