5 Weeks without any broadband, so far...

Does anyone know why is it taking Sky/BT so long to make my broadband work? It has now been 5 weeks since my existing broadband stopped working and my Sky BB was supposed to go active. Initially I was told it was a 'mapping error', then on February 15th it was changed to a 'tie pairs issue'. I think it is disgraceful that Sky/BT cannot sort out faults quicker. If I had known there was a possibility of this happening I would not have bothered trying to change to Sky BB.

Thats nothing mate, i've been waiting 8 weeks so far and all i've been waiting for is for sky's internal systems to clear the first failed orders. Something about their Penfold system which I believe is there easynet's department.

Hopefully today It'll be cleared and they can try a new order but i'm not holding my breath.

I ended up waiting over 10 weeks before I told 'em to stick it!

      @fdztec

Be happy that they know what the problem is. I waited 3 months for them to find out that my problem was tie pairs.

Usually once known the matter can be resolved within around 10 days, I can't say that it will be done in that period of time but it is possible

Best bet is to keep badgering Sky for a resolution date.

I'd say the best bet it to dump Sky if they can't provide broadband on a line that had it working before they mucked it up
Might be worth asking BT Wholesale 0800 1699576 the status of the line & what orders Sky have on it as well.

Re: 5 Weeks without any broadband, so far...

Thanks 'nobroadband', I called BT Wholesale on the number you gave, then waited until an operator answered and they were quite helpful. They said they were waiting for information from Sky before they could activate my broadband! Interestingly I have called this number before but got nowhere as they said I needed to contact Sky not them, but this time I used the words "I would like to check the status of my line" and they then told me all I wanted to know, so it seems it is how you ask the questions...

Well that is another option, however from experience it takes as long to get away from Sky as it will to resolve the problem.

I must have been lucky then (they only mucked me about for about 3 weeks before I had enough & got MAC code out of them (only took them a week & a half ) for a line they said they never connected

Re: 5 Weeks without any broadband, so far...

Well its been 2 weeks and I am really getting frustrated.

Each time I call its a different issue - tier 2, tier 3 all have looked at it, and no-one has called me back despite me leaving my number with them on several occasions.

I knew I should have never sold my soul to the devil that is Sky.

      My fate is damnation !!!!

I was told the problem was a BT line fault - I called them and they said it was fine.

I called Sky AGAIN and told them that and they say it is "tied pairs" - what the hell does that mean?

So I will give them 24 hours, or else cancel.

Question for everyone - I only joined Sky TV to get their BB offer.

For those who have cancelled, what is the situation with the TV - I dont want it. Will I have a fight on my hands trying to get any monies back?

      Cheers

Re: 5 Weeks without any broadband, so far...

Well at last I have Sky broadband! Activated on 21st March, 7 weeks after it was supposed to go live. I think I only made progress once I managed to establish email communication with Sky Customer Relations, my thanks go to Julie who seemed to get things sorted out. Maybe getting the status from BT Wholesale helped as well, but who really knows. It is stable so far, I just hope it keeps working...
