      Connection fails after 15 mins

      Hi folks,

My connetion to my router (ethernet) seems to fail pretty much every day after around 10 to 20 mins of working fine. The internet icon in the notification area stays there but on looking at the properties the time connected is paused. When this happens I can't look at my router settings so I can't see whats wrong. I need to switch the router off/on and after about 5 mins it works fine but the internet icon will have disappeared levaing just the LAN icon. It will then will work fine for most of the day.
      Can anyone help...

      Whippet

Have you tried turning off UPnP on the router settings page? That seems to be a common cause of disconnects.

I'll give that a try. Will that affect my wireless connection to my Xbox?

As far as I am aware it shouldn't affect any connection that is currently already set up.

Re: Connection fails after 15 mins

      Do this:
      (1) Just connect your router to the power and telephone socket and then either using your wireless connection (you will need to enter the passphrase given by sky) or your wired connection, put http://192.168.0.1 into your browser url and press enter. You should see a login box appear, put admin and sky as the password(unless you have changed it). Your router screen should appear.

      (2) Select the UPnP option at the bottom (by log off) and untick Turn UPnP On. Then click Apply.

      Then restart your PC.

I had the exact same problem and switching off the UPnP function worked for me.
