My Tiscali broadband got disconnected yesterday, so I called Sky to see when I was being connected to them. I explained that I had not had a letter from them giving me an activation date and I still had not received my router. I was told my broadband had been disconnected from Tiscali and that my Sky broadband would be connected today and my router would also be sent out today.

The customer services person told me, because I was on the Connect 5 package they send the router out the day you get connected to Sky broadband.

This is one of the most annoying, and idiotic, procedures Sky implement. They cut you off from your old ISP before even sending out your router.

Chances are very good your line will be up and running with Sky days before the router arrives.

However, they will not allow you in the meantime, to use your own router, nor will they provide you with your username/password for this purpose. Even though a tier 3 bod I spoke to admitted they can access that info, they are not allowed to give it out.

Obviously a procedure thought up by some overpaid nobber with nothing to do other than think of ways to annoy customers and inconvenience them.

      No justification for it, whatsoever.

I could not agree more and they are seriously disregarding their sales pitch, given when you are asked to sign up-

Please note: you already have broadband on this line and to switch to Sky Broadband you'll first need to obtain a MAC code from your existing broadband provider. Sky uses this code to ensure that during switching you're without broadband for only the minimum time (usually 30 minutes-2 hours). Your current provider should supply your MAC code within five working days of you asking for it - and you'll need to use this code within 30 days, otherwise it will expire.
This is obviously a downright lie. Don't they realize that they are alienating customers before they even start with them!!!!!

Does anyone have a link to the BT tracking website? I'd love to see when mine is going to go active since I've been given 3 different dates now!

      Thanks.

Re: How Long For Router Delivery?

      Thanks for that.

      Should I be worried?...

We can't find your order details.

      This may be because:
      * You may have given the wrong phone number, please check that (my number) is the correct phone number.
      * You ordered less than three hours ago. If you did, your details won't be in our systems yet.
      * You are moving between broadband packages, these can't be tracked online.
      * You ordered more than 10 days ago. If you did, you should already be switched on to BT Broadband.

You need to track landline order, not BT broadband order.

Re: How Long For Router Delivery?

Go to BT.com, click on 'small and medium business' then 'your account', sign in then click on 'order tracking' and 'track a landline order' - you do not have to type in your phone number
