Blank page when I log into Sky router

      Hi,

I ssem to have a problem logging in to my Sky router from a PC connected by cable.

I go to 192.168.0.1, up pops the logon screen, enter admin/sky and hit return and Internet Explorer comes back with with a 'Page Cannot Be Displayed'.

I've tried using Firefox and Opera and I get blank pages after entering the username and password, which is slightly different to IE7 but no sign of the router config page.

I've tried turning off my anti-virus software, restetting the router, adding 192.168.0.1 to trusted zone, checked cookies are enabled and quite a few other things but still can't get in via cable connection.

However via a laptop with wireless connection it lets me in.

Called Sky and they say they've never heard of this problem before.

Anyone able to offer suggstions please...

      Thanks and regards

      Keef.

Turning off wireless and using cable on laptop will prove that the problem is with your PC.

Reconnect the PC and its is probably this problem on the PC:-

Right click My Network Places on Start Menu
      Choose Properties
Right Click your Local Area Connection
In the General tab Double click Internet Protocol
Tick obtain an IP address automatically
Tick obtain DNS server address automatically
Click OK all open boxes to exit
Now you should be able to connect

Let us know how you get on

      Ossie

Re: Blank page when I log into Sky router

      Thanks for replying Ossie.

My Network settings were already set to automatically obtain IP & DNS so I don't think that's the problem.

Unfortunately my laptop is steam powered and was built before the days of onboard LAN connections. I used to have a PCMCIA LAN card but I can't find it now so can't connect the laptop with a cable to the router.

It's not that important for me to have cable access to router settings but it'd be nice to get to the bottom of why it won't display. I agree it's most likely a PC setting somewhere that's stopping it...

Any more offers of help welcome.

      Thanks again,

      Keef.

Re: Blank page when I log into Sky router

      I found the problem

Although I'd tried turning off my firewall there was another part of BitDefender stopping the page from loading. This turned out to be HTTP (Web) scanning in the Antivirus settings. Turning off this feature resulted in the router displaying start.htm correctly.

      All the best

      Keef.
