Constant disconnections? But the router is showing as connected?

I have an incredibly strange problem.

I'm on the Max Package, and the main PC I use, constantly loses it's connection to the internet. The wierd thing is, I can still connect to the router, which shows itself as connected to the internet.

The other thing is, another PC I use has no problems.

      Any ideas?

I don't know if you have tried turning off the UPnP? It may or may not work, worth a try.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-routerstats.html

Have look at that and look towards the bottom that explains the UPnP - turn it off and let us know

I too was/keep having that problem, but only today. I hope it is something to do with the downtime that Sky had today.

I press F5 a couple of times and then the page comes up.

      You are not alone.

Ok, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's having a similar problem.

For a start, uPnP is disabled, so that's not the problem.

The weird thing is that this only happens on an evening, but the other two PC's in the house are fine.

If anyone has any possible ideas as to what it could be, please let me know. I've already ran the TCP Optimiser program from this site, with very little difference.

Re: Constant disconnections? But the router is showing as connected?

Try setting a static IP in your TCIP with default gateway as your router and DNS same as your router, so:
      IP 192.168.0.10
      Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 (your router)
      Prefered DNS Server 192.168.0.1
The above settings are the default for the netgear router.
Also in your browser goto tools - internet options - connections - lan settings and tick automatically detect settings.

See if any of this helps.

Are you hard wired or wireless?

Re: Constant disconnections? But the router is showing as connected?

      I'm wireless.

TBH, I'm reaching the end of my tether here. I've tried nearly everything I can think of, and everything suggested here, but with no success.

Anything else anyone can think of would be appreciated.
