      New to Sky

      Hi all,
A few minutes ago I registered to sky after getting my MAC code from F2S. (nice to speak to a British voice that I could understand)

What can I expect of SKY?

With F2S I had several disconnections per week - is this the same with sky?

I have been following this forum for the last month and seen lots of negative comments, what about the happy guys out there, is this a good service bearing, in mind the cheap cost that at this price one has to tolerate ( a bit like easyjet)
I have to admit that I have also a cable connection (NTL or whatever they call themselves nowadays, It is very reliable but expensive) so I am not reliant on ADSL but with a mind to totally switch if all works out.

      Re: New to Sky

      Hi

You will do one of 2 things

      1) Straight through no problems - be happy

      2) Have a delayed order / no router etc etc

Keep your NTL connection until you have passed over and happy with Sky, remember you have 8 days from connection to reject the contract.

As a Sky BB user, thoroughly recommend, miles better than F2S (my old ISP) and an awful lot cheaper!

Im guessing, that because this is place where people would look for help after something goes wrong, i guess you hear more about the bad things then good.

Thats what I like to hear, positive comments.
I am no fool but I hope it all goes without a hitch.
My experience with NTL has been good over the last 7 years but with 2 teenage sons always gaming I need the extra bandwidth to do what I want to do, causes too many arguments as to who is lagging who ( I use Utorrent quite a lot, is there any shaping with Sky?)

Not, Really, SkyUser gets a fair share of posts, Some Positive and Negative, However Negative can be Positive as Sky occasionally read the forums and any feedback wether direct or indirect(Skyuser) helps a big deal!

Also, Most posts seem as if something has gone wrong, for e.x., Torrent Slow Speeds!
Users usually fix this by simply forwarding a few ports?

Thumbs up Re: New to Sky

I am on mid package 8mb, test results show I am getting 6mb which aint bad concidering I'm a few miles from the exchange, Supplied router can be troublesome and can need a bit of tweaking to get it stable. First week with Sky I was having to reboot router every night, done the tweaks and all was Ok for 2 month's then it went unstable again, after trying a different Sky router and getting the same problems, I have now installed a completely different make of router and all is good again! Sky techy support is less than satisfactory, "Haven't got a clue" springs to mind but this forum makes up for it with lots of helpful people on here.

For the 5 a month I am paying I have a pretty reliable connection and am a happy bunny, compare to 17.99 I was paying Bt for 2mb, Oh not to mention the six month nightmare I had with TalkTalk before joining Sky
